Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) is a well-known method of particle separation. In dissolved air flotation, also called microflotation, microbubbles are created by dissolving air into water under pressure. When the air saturated pressurized water is released, microbubbles are formed. Suspended solids and colloids attach to one another, or to air bubbles, due to chemical, physical and electrical forces. These particle flocs then float to the water surface and are scraped off. Coagulation and/or flocculation chemicals are used to improve and enhance separation.
EWT™ DAF
Circular units are equipped with a heavy-duty EWT™ drive with overload protection. A variable speed drive or constant speed drive with adjustable timer is provided to control the float removal rate for maximum float concentration.
Positive removal of non-floatable materials is achieved by a bottom-raking mechanism, driven by the same driver that operates the float skimmer. Low maintenance and operating costs are provided with simple but rugged design of circular DAF units. There are no stuffing boxes, underwater bearings or chains located below the liquid level. Hydraulic principles of circular units have been demonstrated in many thickening and clarifying applications.
FlooDaf® Microflotation
General Features of the FlooDaf® Microflotation • One floor structure, only 0.9 m water depth
|

Circular designs through 50-foot diameter are standard with customized units available up to 100-foot diameter. A wide range of sizes assures the correct operational performance in the most economical construction.
EWT’s advanced microflotation technology is called FlooDaf® Microflotation. Its main features are rectangular shape, automatic dispersion water and basin level control. As a result of these FlooDaf® Microflotation can have high hydraulic loading and a small footprint still maintaining good separation efficiency with discharge of sludge at high dry solids also at varying conditions.
