Ion exchanger removes all mineral material from raw water in other words it demineralizes the water.

In ion exchange cations and anions in the feed water are exchanged for hydrogen and hydroxyl ions in the ion exchange resins producing demineralized water. Water quality is continuously monitored with conductivity measurement, a sodium analyzer and a silicometer after the anion vessel. On exhaustion of the capacity the ion exchange train is taken out of service and chemical regeneration is performed. Before starting the regeneration, the other train is taken into service. After the regeneration the first train is rinsed and set to stand-by mode waiting to be taken into service.
