Clarification PDF Print E-mail
Clarification by gravity separation is one of the oldest and the most widely used unit operations for suspended and colloidal material separation from water and wastewater. Typical applications are raw water treatment and wastewater primary and secondary treatment. Eimco Water Technologies offers a wide range of products for different clarification needs.

Solids Contact Reactor Clarifier

Flash Mix, Flocculation, and Sedimentation Combined in a Single Tank

clarificationSolids-Contact Reactor-Clarifier™ units are designed and built to provide the most economical solution to precipitation and clarification requirements. The basic machine design provides for flash mix, coagulation, flocculation, solids recirculation, clarification, and positive sludge removal in a single basin - eliminating the need for multiple tanks and associated piping and pumping.

All units are backed by over 50 years experience in engineering and manufacturing assuring the best fit to unique plant requirements.

Reactor-Clarifier™ units are used for softening, turbidity removal, and taste and odor removal applications. Reactor-Clarifier™ units combine a large diameter, slow speed concentric turbine generating high volume internal recirculation to promote mixing, flocculation and solids-contact. The recirculation system is designed to promote particle growth and improve the removal of suspended solids. Raw influent immediately contacts a large volume of dense floc from previously precipitated solids in the recirculation drum and is pumped upward by the turbine.

Depending on the application, a volume of 8 to 20 times the maximum influent rate is recirculated by the turbine to mix with new incoming feed, while the final effluent passes under the reaction cone to the clarification zone. Heaviest particles settle to the floor where they are raked to the center for recirculation or discharge. Depending of the application the mechanism can be supported by a bridge, which spans the tank or by a stationary center column mounted to the tank bottom.

EWT™ Clarifiers

The EWT™ Clarifiers are easily adaptable to special designs. In addition to standard optional features, our engineers will design and develop new features necessary to satisfy special application requirements. This may necessitate concepts never before incorporated in a clarifier, or may combine features in a new configuration. Whatever the special requirement of the installation, we will provide a design to suit user needs. Options readily available include but are not limited to:

  • Spiral Rake Blades
Flocculation Equipment with Large Diameter Feedwells
    Rotating Sludge Collection Drum
Surface Skimming Equipment to meet any application
    Rapid Sludge Return Systems
    EDI - Inlet Design

Features and Benefits

  • Customized designs to match unique specifications.
Large diameter feedwell clarifiers with EDI design - for improved performance.
Flocculator clarifiers - for improved settling.
Special designs - for unique applications.
    Skimming mechanisms
EWT™ ClariThickener - sludge thickening and clarification in a single basin.
Dependable clarifier driveheads - designed for maximum duty service.

EWT™ ClariThickener

clarificationIn many wastewater treatment plants it is desirable to provide both clarification and sludge thickening. There is no question as to the advantages of sludge thickening prior to digestion, filtration incineration, or other methods of sludge disposal.

Our EWT™ ClariThickener clarifier-sludge thickener provides an economical solution. In EWT™ ClariThickener both clarification and sludge thickening take place in a single basin.

Why should I upgrade to Internet Explorer 7? Microsoft has redesigned Internet Explorer from the ground up, with better security, new capabilities, and a whole new interface. Many changes resulted from the feedback of millions of users who tested prerelease versions of the new browser. The most compelling reason to upgrade is the improved security. The Internet of today is not the Internet of five years ago. There are dangers that simply didn't exist back in 2001, when Internet Explorer 6 was released to the world. Internet Explorer 7 makes surfing the web fundamentally safer by offering greater protection against viruses, spyware, and other online risks.
